VALIN Los Angeles Wedding Photographer Sage Timog photographing California and beyond

Los Angeles Wedding Photographer

Hi, I’m Sage, the artist behind VALIN and I believe the most meaningful moments are the quietest ones.

The Why

I grew up in San Diego surrounded by love in its steady, thoughtful forms. Long before wedding photography became my career, I was always the one with a camera at roadtrips and family gatherings, drawn to the candid scenes others might overlook.

One moment that was foundational to my approach: I photographed my parents at brunch when my dad surprised my mom for their anniversary. That fleeting glimpse of pure joy showed me what I wanted to do: preserve authentic emotion for couples who value real connection over perfection.

The Approach

VALIN is Los Angeles wedding photography rooted in storytelling and stillness, a blend of editorial intention and quiet documentary observation. I create imagery that feels honest and alive, preserving not only how your wedding looked, but how it felt.

As a self-taught Los Angeles wedding photographer, my approach evolved organically through real experience. I blend photojournalistic observation with an editorial eye, capturing natural, candid moments as they unfold while ensuring every frame is beautifully composed. I'm endlessly inspired by love in all its forms. Editorial + documentary wedding photographer for discerning couples. Based in California and traveling wherever love leads, my work is an ode to connection, light, and human warmth.

Los Angeles based, traveling anywhere.

PHILOSOPHY

An approach that encourages you to live the moment. A style that exudes timeless sophistication. Creating heirlooms that thoughtfully preserve your story.

Your wedding experience should feel like an excursion into the present moment — as your wedding celebrations begin, I encourage you to let go and immerse yourself in the wonder of it all.

Cinematic. Nostalgic. Timeless.

What draws me to this work is simple: I'm endlessly inspired by love in all its forms. Every smile, touch, and fleeting glance reminds me why I do this. When I'm not behind the camera, I'm exploring Los Angeles art galleries, discovering new coffee shops, or planning my next travel adventure — experiences that continuously shape the artful, cinematic approach that defines my work.

The Experience

On your wedding day, I bring calm, unobtrusive energy and a keen eye for storytelling. You won't feel like you're in a formal photoshoot. You'll feel like yourself, fully present in your celebration while I document your story in the background.

I'm a quiet and eager observer waiting to capture the laughs, the tears, and everything in between. I capture candid moments naturally and offer gentle guidance for portraits, helping you feel relaxed without making your day feel overly staged. I've even been known to join couples on the dance floor.

FAQs

  • My work blends a documentary approach with an editorial eye for light and composition. I am an artist at heart, so I look at the world with a creative lens, but I’m also inspired by moments that have weight and depth. Some couples describe it as refined yet real, timeless yet modern.

  • My process is rooted in ease and trust, which is why it’s important that we hop on a call to make sure that we’re a good fit. Besides your partner, your wedding photographer will be the person you will spend time with for most of the day, so it’s important who to choose someone you are comfortable with and trust.

  • Los Angeles wedding photographer prices typically range from $2,500 (newer photographers) to $15,000+ (top-tier established photographers). Most couples invest between $4,000–$12,000 for full-day coverage with an experienced professional.

My wedding photography collections start at $3,995, reflecting over 200 weddings of experience and a documentary style that blends artistry with authentic storytelling.

  • Every collection includes:

    • 75-100+ professionally edited images per hour of coverage

    • Private online gallery with download and print rights

    • Timeline planning consultation to ensure we capture every moment

    • Sneak peek within 1 week, complete gallery in 6-12 weeks

Optional add-ons: Engagement sessions, second photographer, film photography, heirloom albums.

  • I’m drawn to couples who lead with heart. Those who are kind, compassionate, and value connection. The ones who find beauty in both the grand and the quiet and care deeply about the people around them.

My favorite couples are creative souls with an eye for aesthetics, yet they value being present above all else. They don’t want the day to feel like a photoshoot. They want to live it fully, surrounded by laughter, emotion, and the people who matter most.

  • Sure do! I love destination weddings! Travel within Southern California (Santa Barbara, Orange County, San Diego) is complimentary.

For destinations outside Southern California, please refer to my Investment Guide regarding travel fee.

If you're celebrating in one of my bucket list destinations, I'll waive my session fee entirely and you'll only cover travel expenses.

  • I’m inspired by human connection, and life. I draw inspiration from art, architecture, travel, and the natural rhythm of light. I’m endlessly inspired by the people around me and the different cultures I learn about in my travels. All of these influences shape how I see and how I photograph each couple’s story with intention and care.

  • Absolutely! Love is love and I welcome all couples. I would never turn away a couple based on sexual orientation, race or religious beliefs.
